Independent sites, official party pages, and nonpartisan sites each have different types of information worth investigating.

Democratic National Committee

Use keywords to search the DNC site, or try Quick Links to read the platform, party power structure, or Federal Election Commission reports. The site includes video clips of DNC ads and occasional links to authorized “attack” sites (e.g., “I Know What You Did in Texas.com”).

Republican National Committee

The RNC site offers the party platform, party history, and lists of elected officials and GOP leadership along with the Republican spin on the news (“GOPTV”).

Politics1.com

Bone up on Republicans and Democrats by reading overviews of their histories and ideologies at the (relatively) objective Political Party Directory. The site offers an alphabetical listing of third parties (ranging in character from the American Heritage Party to the Pot Party) that includes their political beliefs and electoral histories.

Politics.com

This all-purpose political info site includes a long list of nationwide and state-specific party Web sites.

Electnet

From the home page, their State Directory (pick a state in the drop-down box) offers information and links for state and local politics.
