RTDNA Continues Fight for First Amendment Rights
Print Story

Feb 08 2012

To Our Members,

RTDNA believes its top mission is to fight for First Amendment rights on your behalf.   Recently, we’ve had the opportunity to have our voice heard on some key legal issues and now we’re undertaking another.

Your Association is joining an amicus (Friend of the Court) brief in support of a Pennsylvania Supreme Court case undertaken by the Hearst Corporation, on behalf of one of its stations, WGAL-TV in Lancaster, PA.

Hearst is appealing a decision from lower courts that WGAL is not entitled to obtain manner and cause of death information related to a student’s death in a timely manner and, instead, was required to wait until the end of the calendar year.  Hearst argues they are entitled to that information immediately under the state’s Right To Know Law.

But we need your help. Please watch your email this afternoon for a letter from me explaining what you can do to support this important effort.

Thanks,

Mike
