2008 Regional Election Results

Why are some regional directors representing more than one region?

Nominations Committee Chairwoman Angie Kucharski explains:

“Earlier this year, we shared with you that your Board of Directors was undertaking some steps to realign its resources to ensure better efficiency in the organization’s operations. As part of that effort, under provisions in our current Association by-laws, we began an intensive reorganization effort of the Board this summer. In examining membership numbers and services, we restructured the current Board of Directors. In your region, your regional director will now have governance and representation responsibilities for a larger area. That is, one director will now represent the interests of two regions on governance and membership service matters. This restructuring affects only your representation, and not your region assignment. For example, when entering Murrow awards, you will continue to compete in your current region – and not the combined region that your director will represent.

In making this adjustment, your Board believes it will be better able to reallocate some of its operational resources directly into new programming and services. We have every confidence that you will not see any change in the level of communication and service from your elected representative, while more resources will be applied to other programming and advocacy efforts you have told RTNDA are important to you. Therefore, you are now being presented with the slate of directors who are currently seeking office for your region for election in 2008. In accordance with RTNDA by-laws, we are notifying you of this current slate and also informing you of procedures should you desire to seek a regional director position.
