615 Music and NBC's Today Show Team Up Again
March 14, 2008
Nashville,
TN, March 12, 2008 -- 615 Music, one of America’s preeminent Production Music
companies, providers of library and production music (both original and custom)
for television networks and programs, feature films, radio, commercials, on-air
promos, interactive applications and multi-media clients, recently composed and
produced the highly successful new musical promotional tune for the “TODAY”
show, entitled “Why I Love Today.” To hear this tune, please visit: http://www.615music.com/core/custom_services.cfm
The company has also produced
and delivered the country’s first ever 5.1 Surround sound news music package,
for client KPIX TV. 615 Music President and CEO Randy Wachtler made the
announcements.
ABOUT
“WHY I LOVE TODAY:
For 615 Music’s longtime
client NBC Television, the company wrote and produced the new song, entitled
“Why I Love TODAY,” to promote the “TODAY” show. “Why I Love TODAY,” a very
contemporary, pop music style song, was written by Greg Barnhill, Frank Radice,
NBC’s Executive Vice President of Marketing, East Coast, and 615’s R. Wachtler,
and features lead vocalist D. Thomas. Regarding the tune, Mr. Radice said,
“Working with 615 Music just makes sense.
They understand we want a song, not a jingle…and as a composer, I need a
partner and not just a music company. 615 is the best partner I could have both
for the music and the marketing.”
The video behind the new
promotional song incorporates actual “TODAY” show viewers, who discuss the
various reasons why they love that program – relating the show as the source of
their latest information about news, food, fashion, entertainment, lifestyle
suggestions, etc. “TODAY” has also incorporated celebrity interactions within
its “Why I Love TODAY” promo campaign, including those from Will Ferrell, Woody
Harrelson and Steve Carrell, to name a few.
In
related news, “TODAY” dominated the February Sweep. According to NBC News, the Nielsen
numbers say “TODAY” delivered its best February sweep in four years topping
"Good Morning America" by more than 1.1 million viewers. For the sweep, “TODAY”
attracted 6.1 million viewers - a whopping 1.1+ million (23 percent) lead over
GMA, and more than 2.9 million (94 percent) lead over "The Early Show."
The sweep marks “TODAY’s”
best total viewer advantage over GMA in a February sweep since 2004 (excluding
the 2006 Torino Olympic Games). TODAY was the only morning news program to
increase in total viewers year-to-year. Versus the February 2007 sweep, “TODAY”
increased its advantage over GMA in homes (from 15% up to 21%), total viewers
(from 16% up to 23%), W18-49 (from 19% to 32! %), A18-49 (from 27% up to 46%),
W25-54 (from 15% up to 20%), and A25-54 (from 26% up to 33%).
ABOUT THE KPIX SURROUND
SOUND PROJECT:
For client KPIX TV, San Francisco, 615 Music
created and produced a promotional news music package, entitled “Always Worth
Your Time,” in Dolby E™ 5.1 Surround, marking a national milestone in the
broadcasting industry. Said client Dee Joyce, VP, Advertising and Marketing
for KPIX TV, “We’re
excited to be the first TV station in America to broadcast our news music
package, created by 615 Music, in 5.1 Surround. Today’s great shows like ‘CSI’
already broadcast their audio in 5.1 and make the viewer experience so rich that
we wanted to extend that great experience to our local news audience. Our HD
signal, together with 5.1 Surround, is an exciting step for CBS 5 KPIX-TV, 615
Music and the Bay Area.”
Mr. Wachtler added, “’Always Worth
Your Time’ is the first news music
package in America to be released in 5.1 Surround and we’re proud to have
created it for Dee Joyce and her creative team at KPIX-TV in San Francisco. This
news music package is perfect for stations with a new HD look, and makes the
viewer experience rich and exciting. With so many network shows now broadcasting
their content in HD and 5.1, 615 Music stands at the leading edge by providing
the country’s first 5.1 news music package.”
