In 2007 she became the assistant news director at the CBS affiliate in San Antonio, KENS, before moving to Tennessee in 2012.
"We welcome Christy Moreno to our board," said RTDNA Chairman Chris Carl. "Her longtime support of our organization and her passion for promoting the highest quality journalism will benefit all of our members."
WBIR won Region 8's Edward R. Murrow Award for Overall Excellence in 2013, along with awards for continuing coverage and the station's website. The Region 8 seat on the board had been overseen by Region 9 Director Randy Bell, who will continue to represent Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi. Moreno begins her duties immediately.
