It’s the most wonderful time of the year: Budget planning time! OK, maybe not, but it IS a good time for you to think about the 2014 Excellence in Journalism conference.
As you’re planning your 2014 budget, please take my advice and make sure there’s money in there to join us at EIJ14, September 4-6 in Nashville, Tennessee.
Our programming committee is just getting started selecting the topics and speakers for EIJ14, but it’s bound to be full of the latest trends in broadcast and digital journalism. Now is a great time to submit a session idea. You’ll hear from, and get the chance to meet, some of the biggest names in broadcast journalism.
The Journalism Expo is always a great place to see new equipment, find story ideas or explore ways to further your education at some of the best journalism schools in the country.
Networking opportunities seem to appear around every corner at EIJ, not to mention the chance to catch up with old friends.
Plus, it’s a chance to explore Nashville, including the Country Music Hall of Fame, The Parthenon and Antique Archeology. In fact, Conde Nast Traveler named Nashville one of the “Top 5 Best Places in the World to Visit in 2013” for its “hot, trendy new food scene and its famous, funky music scene.” What more could you ask for?
If the time frame of early September isn’t good for you, consider sending one of your reporters or producers. There will be plenty of learning opportunities for all career levels, and your newsroom will surely benefit from the energy and rejuvenation that EIJ generates year after year.
Get an early look at EIJ14 and y’all come to Nashville, ya hear?!?
